Hope this letter finds all you California folks in good health and working hard to meet the needs of the less fortunate. What a tremendous blessing it is to see smiling faces on so many when we show up with food and clothing.
As you may already know we are expanding our outreach ministry into North Eastern Kentucky. This area has tremendous need because only two out of twelve previously
operating mines are open and by a shoe string. This area of Appalachia is dependent on the coal industry and now has an extremely high percentage of unemployment.
We wanted to sincerely thank you for your extra help in delivering the fifteen boxes of new clothing. We would like to give a special thanks to Stussy Clothing Manufacturer for their generous donation and for thinking about us. The Stussy donation was wonderfully received. This is actually the first time these folks received new clothing. When Therea picked up the first piece of clothing she held it to her face, smelled it saying “Praise the Lord, this smells new”. I was so pleased to say “It is new”. I’ll send you a photo of that sweet moment. All of the boxes went to Cumberland, Kentucky to missionaries Henry and Teresa Hughes who are doing a wonderful work at an old abandon school building. The ministry is named “United For Jesus” Tri-City Christian Youth Center. They serve several mining communities in the area. Cumberland, Harlen and Linefork. Anyway, we just wanted to say thanks. We are looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting in California.
A note of sincere appreciation:
Your brother in Christ
