School Supply Drive 2020

As we prepare for our annual School Supply and Back Pack Outreach, did you know that on average, American Indian 4th graders score 19 points lower in reading than non-Native students? A lack of proficiency in reading is a clear danger sign for all aspects of academic achievement. Among the problems that families in economically disadvantaged Native American Reservations face is choosing between food or school supplies for their kids. Can you imagine having to make that choice?

We have been blessed with the ability to help minister to families in need, opening the door for hearts to hear the Gospel. But we need your help to support youngsters in the most impoverished tribes get off to a good start this fall with the basic materials that will help them learn, especially in their reading skills. Our Apache children have the lowest High School graduation rate of all the twelve tribes we serve and Native Americans are the lowest in graduation rate of all U.S. ethnic groups.

The school year begins in early August on the Reservations in the Southwest, and it takes 3 months of preparation to acquire, sort and pack the thousands of school supply items necessary before we finally make the deliveries.

Items needed include the basics like backpacks, pencils, paper, scissors, glue, rulers, etc. Donate products or make a financial contribution designated for the School Supply Drive and we will do the shopping for you! Or a donation for fuel expenses to transport the supplies would also be a blessing.

Thank you for your investment in these lives. It will it help them become the next generation of leaders. Who knows, some may even become pastors and teachers!

Many thanks and God bless you,
Konrad Winderl, President
