Ever since the 1976 maiden flight of the Christmas Airlift, Wings of Faith (WOF) has delivered new toys, games, blankets and clothing to underprivileged children on the Reservations and in Mexico, bringing Christmas joy and love to many.
We're now in full swing preparing for the 2015 Christmas Airlift. This is one of the biggest outreaches each year for WOF. Each of the toys contains a message of the Christ Child’s birth, the real reason for this season.
Volunteers work year round purchasing toys and various gifts with donations earmarked for the Christmas Airlift. The WOF staff coordinates pilots, private airplanes, trucks and drivers to make the deliveries among the 29 locations in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Mexican outreaches near the border that we serve. Other recipients include the American Indian Mission School in Show Low, Ariz. and NAOMI House in Holbrook, Ariz.
Currently, loads delivered to each missionary consist of eight to 10 forty gallon bags, occasionally requiring two trips by airplane to deliver. The effort takes 10 to 12 airplanes and pilots, five trucks and SUVs, and many warehouse workers.
In some cases the loads are augmented with shoes and clothing donated by many sources including Stussy, Vans, Children’s Orchard, Obey, Rip Curl and individuals. Each gift is prayed over and includes a Scripture for the recipient.
It would be a blessing to have you join this ministry to be God’s hand extended to the impoverished Native American children. All donations are used solely for purchasing gifts for the Christmas airlift. A $10 donation buys several Christmas gifts, and when you see those smiles, you will be blessed to know your gift changes young lives for the Lord's Kingdom!
