Faithfulness is a beautiful attribute of God. We can count on His Word one hundred percent of the time. That’s a great comfort for us when events take an unexpected turn or we encounter difficult situations in life. Look at Gideon in the book of Judges. Gideon’s life was less than enviable. The Israelites were enduring great hardship and lived in fear of their enemies. They didn’t have enough food to eat. One day God revealed Himself to Gideon and told him it was time to lead his people out of bondage. But Gideon’s mind was so focused on his misery that he didn’t trust in God’s faithfulness, and he refused to act. When God spoke to him again and again Gideon finally responded. To prove that He has power to fulfill His Word, God even had Gideon send most of his army home before he went to battle. And they defeated their enemies! We can be like Gideon when darkness surrounds us. We can forget that God never changes and that His love and His Word are as steadfast as a solid rock. As we meditate on God’s love and trust in His Word, our minds and hearts come into the light of His glory. Look beyond the hard circumstances to your faithful God and trust Him at all times. God’s love never fails, and His mercies are new every morning. Exalt the Lord for He is faithful!
