Sixth Edition, Issue 4  February, 2016

Rick and I were encouraged this month when two of his former basketball players, as well as two of Jared’s buddies, came to encourage alongside us on the San Carlos Reservation.  They were God sent to minister to James the day we went to San Carlos.  James was sitting alone at one of the tables at the feeding and Tyler and Chris’ listening ears and living testimonies were just what he needed that day.  Tyler and Chris listened to his story, which included some painful experiences with the church.  James needed to hear that Jesus loved him and that not every Christian was out to hurt him like his church had.  By Tyler and Chris sharing a meal with him and listening to his story, they gave him the message that there are Christians who care about him as a brother in Christ.  James told Carla later that he was blessed by their willingness to listen and eat a meal with him.

After lunch we spent some time filling up a dumpster with trash and took a load to the dump.  Tyler and Chris listened to God’s call and stepped out in faith by spending a day serving on the San Carlos Apache Reservation that day and were an encouragement to all they came in contact with.

picking oranges and grapefruits.  While I was at the ANAM conference, the director of the Southwest Indian Mission Center told me of two couples who wanted to donate their fruit for the people of San Carlos.  We had a beautiful day to pick and enjoyed our time together.

Carla, Mike, Nia, Carmello, JoJo and I bagged the oranges to give away as an encouragement.  I enjoyed my time spent with them, chatting as we bagged.  JoJo was a BIG help as he helped push the oranges from the back of the truck to the front.  Whenever we asked him if he could do something, he would respond with, “Of course I can!”  What a delight to see such a willing heart out of such a little boy!
